CONDUCT WORK AT HEIGHT TRAINING (CWAH)-Blended

(Previously known as Work-at-Heights Train-The-Trainer Course -WAH TTT)

Legal Requirement

This course a mandatory training course for anyone who wants toe a facilitator/assessor for the Managing Work-at-Heights Course

For Whom

The CWAH is designed for practitioners of WAH who is required to competently deliver approved WAH training courses to Worker, Supervisor, Assessor and Manager Levels in Singapore.

Assumed Attitude, Skills and Knowledge / Entry Requirement

  • Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health;
  • Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA);
  • 3 or more years of working experience as Project Manager / Operations Manager or equivalent;
  • 3 or more years of relevant Work-at-Height experience.
  • Physically fit and able to complete all practical activities, including some strenuous climbing and work-positioning tasks.

Course Overview

  • Apply updated legislative requirements to Working at Height
  • Identify hazardous & unsafe conditions whilst WAH across key industry sectors
  • Develop rescue plans
  • Apply legislative requirements and fundamentals of rescue from height.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Fall Protection Systems (Assessor Level)
  • Implement a Fall Prevention Plan (Manager Level)

Course Content

  1. Apply conditions of lost revenue to WAH.
  2. Apply conditions of individual worker safety and responsibility WAH
  3. Identify and apply alternative to WAH
  4. Apply safe selection and use of various temporary access system
  5. Identify hazardous & unsafe conditions whilst WAH across key industry sectors.
  6. Define systems used for WAH and identify their benefits, limitations & common unsafe Practices.
  7. Apply fundamentals of fall arrest systems
  8. Apply requirements of local and international standards to WAH and fall protection equipment
  9. Apply conditions of safely selecting anchorages
  10. Apply conditions of safely selecting vertical lifelines
  11. Apply conditions of safely selecting horizontal lifelines
  12. Apply conditions of safely selecting full body harness
  13. Apply conditions of safely selection shock absorbing lanyards
  14. Apply conditions of safely selecting self- retracting lifelines (SRLs)
  15. Apply conditions of safely selecting descent & work positioning systems
  16. Specify descent systems for particular WAH and confined space activities
  17. Demonstrate safe connections to full body harness
  18. Identify common unsafe practice whilst using twin lanyard
  19. Apply legislative requirements for rescue from height
  20. Apply conditions of shock and suspension trauma to rescue from height
  21. Identify industrial rescue systems and technics
  22. Developing Rescue plan
  23. Identify the roles and responsibilities of rescue team members
  24. Pre use inspection of rescue equipment
  25. Fitting of rescue harness
  26. Demonstrate logged inspection of a no-certified anchorage connector
  27. Demonstrate logged inspection of vertical Lifeline
  28. Demonstrate logged inspection of horizontal lifeline
  29. Demonstrate logged inspection of a full body harness
  30. Demonstrate logged inspection of a shock absorbing lanyard.
  31. Demonstrate logged inspection of a SRLs.
  32. Demonstrate sizing and fitting of a full body harness and lanyard.
  33. Demonstrate safe movement with 100% connection whilst using twin lanyard
  34. Demonstrate a “First man out” technique using a positioning lifeline and rope grab system.
  35. Demonstrate safe design, installation & use of a temporary horizontal lifeline system for fall arrest
  36. Demonstrate safe use of a permanent vertical lifeline system.
  37. Demonstrate safe design, installation & use of a temporary vertical lifeline system
  38. Demonstrate Safe design, installation & use of an SRL and Tagline system
  39. Demonstrate response to a fall emergency
  40. Demonstrate a versatile range of rescue from height technique.
  41. Demonstrate effective post rescue causality management including the application of immobilization and packaging technic.

Course Duration: 32 hours including 9.5 hours of assessment.

Teaching Methodology:

  • Face to Face class room teaching.
  • The following blended learning methods are applied to maximize the learning outcome:
    • Login to the Eversafe Academy e-learning platform and self-study from anyplace.
      • Presentation slides
      • Watch the video
      • Self-assessment
      • Forum discussion
    • Project work on own workplace and submit project report (part of assessment)

Learning Environment:   Our ergonomically designed class rooms are fully air-conditioned, equipped with white boards; audio/video equipment’s and free wi-fi  .

Qualification or experience of facilitators:

A facilitator and assessor of this course will possess the following:

  1. Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health
  2. Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA)
  3. 5 years of relevant industry experience
  4. 2 years of Managerial experience
  5. Have at least 1 year experience in conducting rescue for WAH or 1 year experience in conducting rescue training for WAH
